Phoenix – A smart controller with real-time flow sensing data and a new generation flooding mat that eliminates most runoff are the winners of the 2005 Irrigation Association new product contest.
The Hunter ACC Controller from Hunter Industries was named winner of the Turf/Landscape category. Aquamat from Soleno Textiles Inc. won for agriculture.
The winners were announced at the 26th Annual International Irrigation Show.
The Hunter ACC Controller includes real-time flow sensing data, which allows the station to automatically respond to incorrect flow with diagnostic, station-level shutdowns. It also has built-in remote control, a feature typically associated with expensive controllers.
The ACC Controller combines features that have been available on higher priced models on a system for commercial applications.
Judges liked Aquamat, which uses a patented evaporation block layer, for its potential to control runoff from greenhouse and nursery applications. They described it as simple, easy to use and cost-effective.
