Heritage Golf Group acquired two more clubs this month, bringing its portfolio to 20 clubs — 14 of them acquired since July 2020. The most recent additions are Cape Fear National and Brunswick Plantation Resort and Golf, both in the Carolinas.

The 18-hole Cape Fear National Golf Club is the centerpiece of a 4,500-acre, 3,000-home community in suburban Wilmington, North Carolina. Brunswick Plantation Resort and Golf in Calabash, North Carolina, north of Myrtle Beach, offers 27 holes of championship golf. Heritage is finalizing plans to invest several million dollars in these clubs to improve the member and resort guest experiences.

Heritage typically acquires new properties from a variety of owners, including real estate developers, private investors, member-owned clubs, financial institutions, resort hotel owners and others.

President and CEO Mark Burnett led the purchase of the then-six-club group in January 2020, with a passionate vision to reinvent the original clubs and acquire additional clubs while modernizing them for the next generation of members and guests. The company’s club roster now includes 20 clubs located in Virginia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin. During that same time, the company’s employee headcount has increased from 350 to more than 2,000.
