Grizzly Ranch, the first private golf and recreation community in the Western Sierra Feather River Country, is off to a resounding success.
With a total of 140 completed and pending property sales out of 380 available homesites in the long-term master plan, representatives of Grizzly Creek Development (managed by Destination Development Corporation, a subsidiary of Lowe Enterprises), developers of the 1,040-acre former Sierra high country ranch, attribute much of the success to the low density, design and conservation aspects of Grizzly Ranch, which have been well received.
"We had a fine turnout in mid-July for the first public sales event," said Kent Petersmeyer, vice president of sales and marketing. "It was a welcoming weekend for our new property owners, with golf, a lake hike, horseback riding and other entertainment, followed by a cocktail reception and barbecue on the knoll where our clubhouse facilities will be located."
All of the twenty-one Creekside Cabin properties have been reserved, Petersmeyer reports, and all the thirty-two Sierra Residence homesites as well. Creekside Cabins and Sierra Residences were pre-designed by highly regarded architects especially for Grizzly Ranch.
Properties range in size from one-half to three acres at prices ranging from approximately $150,000 to $495,000. Each homesite remains as open space until the property owner has submitted plans for approval and until construction begins.
The 18-hole signature golf course, designed by Robert Cupp, is on target to open on schedule for the 2005 golf season. The opening will be supported by the generous practice facilities, the Pro Shop and the Lake House. The ponds, streams and waterfalls are complete as is the Information Center at the mountain community's entrance. Membership in the private Grizzly Ranch Golf Club is currently available only to property owners.
Future plans include a clubhouse and restaurant, sports and fitness center, swimming pool, hiking, biking and planned family activities. Architectural guidelines honor the rustic Tahoe lodge style with generous use of timber and stone.
