Grip Kleen goes north of the border

Competitive Technologies has granted Qwatro Corporation of Toronto, a license to manufacture and package the Grip Kleen Golf Club Grip Cleaning Wipe.

Fairfield, Conn. -- Competitive Technologies announced today that it has granted Qwatro Corporation of Toronto, Ontario a license to manufacture and package the Grip Kleen Golf Club Grip Cleaning Wipe specifically for the retail market. In addition, Qwatro will have distribution rights for the product in Canada and Europe. The license will provide royalties for both the inventors of Grip Kleen and CTT.

Grip Kleen is a pre-moistened towelette specifically created to remove dirt and grime from natural and composite golf club grips. Grip Kleen cleans, dries and restores the natural tackiness of the grips. Newly cleaned grips are tacky to allow the golfer to hold the club more securely, thus increasing the accuracy of the flight of the golf ball and the precision of its trajectory.

CTT has an agreement with the inventors of Grip Kleen, Dr. Scott R. Goode and Dr. Paul T. Rawl, to commercialize this product.

"CTT's goal is to license this product worldwide in the high-volume retail golf market," says Suzanne N. B. Alent, CTT's v.p. of marketing and business development. "We anticipate a vigorous and profitable distribution of Grip Kleen. Growth rates for the golf industry ranged from 5- to 15 percent annually over the last five years in various regions around the world. The current estimated number of golfers in the world is over 60 million, with growth projected to exceed 82 million golfers in 2010. There is huge potential for Grip Kleen unit sales for both CTT and its clients. Qwatro is a great partner for the Grip Kleen product."

"Qwatro is very excited to sign this agreement to manufacture and package Grip Kleen," Bob Wagner, president and chief chemist at Qwatro says. "We look forward to bringing it to the important markets of both Canada and Europe. In Canada alone it is estimated that one in every five people play golf. With over five million golfers currently in Canada, and almost the same number estimated in Europe, we have a large market opportunity. This agreement marks an important step in Qwatro's strategy to expand into the consumer market."

Grip Kleen allows the golfer to clean the grip with a quick-drying mixture of chemicals that removes dirt, perspiration, water and dried skin oils that have accumulated during the normal course of playing golf. The chemicals in Grip Kleen are all miscible, so they do not accumulate on the grip. The process of cleaning a grip is finished in several seconds and cleaning an entire bag of 14 clubs requires only a few minutes. Grip Kleen towelettes are portable and can be used on the golf course or wherever needed.
