Greg Pheneger given Florida GCSA Distinguished Service Award

The manager of Golf Course Operations at the Johns Island Club in Vero Beach received the association’s highest honor during its spring board meeting.

Greg Pheneger, manager of Golf Course Operations at the Johns Island Club in Vero Beach received the Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award during the 2007 FGCSA Past Presidents Dinner in conjunction with the FGCSA’s Spring Board Meeting held in Naples, Fla., earlier this month.

Phenger served on the FGCSA board since 1998 and was the association’s president in 2003-2004. Pheneger guided the association in adopting progressive operating and financial plans and continues to serve on the Long Range and Financial Planning Committees. His sound business sense laid the groundwork for the association to prosper and grow.

The past two years Pheneger was tapped to serve on the Florida Turfgrass Associations Board of Director and will be nominated for Secretary/Treasurer of that organization at the annual meeting this coming September.
 
The Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association is made up of 12 regional chapters around the state and is an affiliated chapter of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. The Florida GCSA has more than 1,100 superintendent and assistant superintendent members making the game of golf more enjoyable for Florida’s golfers
