GPS Industries, a developer and provider of global positioning (GPS) and Wi-Fi wireless golf course, sports and community solutions, installed its Inforemer GPS Golf Management System in Point Roberts, Wash., and Dayton Valley, Nev., through distributors NorthStar Golf Technologies and Satellite Golf.
Point Roberts Golf and Country Club was recognized as the eighth Best New Course in the United States by Golf Digest Magazine in 2003. NorthStar Golf recently completed installation of the Inforemer handheld GPS units at Point Roberts. It is being used by golfers riding in carts and walking the course to enhance their overall golf experience, and help lower their score by providing precise distance measurements, course information, pro tips and scoring.
Dayton Valley Golf Club has been given a four-star rating by Golf Digest Magazine, and has been host to the Nevada State Championships, U.S.G.A. Amateur Qualifying, and the first stage of PGA Tour Qualifying since 1995. Satellite Golf is installing Inforemer's flagship 10.4-inch color cart-mounted GPS units on Dayton Valley's 65-cart fleet.
"We think the Inforemer is an asset for our customers," said Jim Kepler, director of golf for Dayton Valley Golf Club. "Playing our course with the addition of GPS that offers exact yardage and other features certainly improves our ability to become more competitive and generate additional revenue. We are constantly improving the quality of our course and facility from year to year, and adding GPS was the next step."
