GolfVisions Management, a Chicagoland-based golf management firm, will lease Village Green Golf Course in Mundelein, Ill. for a minimum of five years, assuming operations effective Jan. 15, 2008.
Mundelein High School District 120 purchased Village Green G.C. in 2004. The property remains available for future school district use, but development of the site has been deferred indefinitely. After considering competitive proposals, District 120 selected GolfVisions to operate the golf course.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for GolfVisions to operate a classic, parkland-style course in a semi-urban setting, and our enthusiasm couldn’t be greater,” says Tim Miles, Sr., GolfVisions president. “Our company has extensive expertise in the public sector, including multiple facilities owned by governmental units such as municipalities, park districts and forest preserve districts. We look forward to working on behalf of District 120 to ensure Village Green remains a wonderful community amenity in good standing financially.”
Village Green will join a GolfVisions portfolio that currently comprises five 18-hole championship courses and three 9-hole facilities, the majority of which reside in the Chicago metropolitan area. GolfVisions’ leased or managed properties include:
- Oak Grove Golf Course, Harvard, Ill. (18 holes)
- Foxford Hills Golf Club, Cary, Ill. (18 holes)
- Settler’s Hill Golf Course, Batavia, Ill. (18 holes)
- Whitetail Ridge Golf Club, Yorkville, Ill. (18 holes)
- Pennbrooke Fairways, Leesburg, Fla. (18 holes)
- HeatherRidge Golf Course, Gurnee, Ill.
- Hunter Country Club, Richmond, Ill.
- Deer Valley Golf Course, Big Rock, Ill.
Playing 6,300 yards from the tips and featuring expansive, undulating greens, Village Green is an increasingly rare commodity in this era of oversize titanium drivers. It’s a truly player-friendly layout with much to offer all levels: beginners, juniors, seniors, families, recreational or social golfers, even avid or competitive players seeking to hone certain aspects of their game.
“Village Green features plenty of mature trees and strategically placed bunkers and ponds that add interest and challenge,” says Miles. “It was a successful course for many years, and our goal will be to upgrade the overall maintenance program and renovate the bunkers to enhance the golf experience.”
GolfVisions will also seek to rapidly improve the onsite amenities. “We’re going to upgrade the [5,000-square-foot] clubhouse, including the space for outings and banquets,” Miles explains. “We will implement a bar-and-grill operation that will appeal to even the non-golfing residents. We’ll also renovate the parking lot.”
