Golf Maintenance Solutions has been selected to provide golf course maintenance services for Plantation Lakes Golf & Country Club in Millsboro, Del., the centerpiece to Lennar Homes’ luxury master planned community of Plantation Lakes. The announcement was made by GMS Founders Bill Nauroth and Dean Wochaski.
“We are excited to partner with Lennar Homes and Icon Management to provide the maintenance for Plantation Lakes Golf & Country Club,” Wochaski said. “The vision for this already spectacular Arthur Hills design is to make it one of the best-conditioned courses in the region.”
Wochaski will work with Golf Maintenance Solutions vice president/regional agronomist Steve Schendel to implement state-of-the-art maintenance and agronomic practices designed to ensure consistent playing surfaces and elevate the caliber of the golf course. The first nine holes are currently open for play, with the second nine scheduled to be constructed in the near future. Hills employed dramatic earth moving and imaginative design to create a unique, adventurous layout on formerly flat terrain. Marshy swales, native wetlands and majestic trees frame sweeping fairways and manicured greens, with Betts Pond, Ingrams Pond and other water features coming into play on nearly every hole – creating both strategic diversity and a stunning backdrop for golf. Golfers share the tranquil course with blue heron, egrets and other wildlife species.
“We're excited about the future of Plantation Lakes Golf & Country Club and the community that surrounds the green space,” said Wes Miller, director of operations for Icon Management. “The course is strategically routed along the wetlands with a number of natural sandy waste areas that present a fun and fair challenge for every playing level.”
