Golf Intelligence acquires StarPlan

An upstart and industry veteran join to deliver comprehensive and capable technology for golf associations and clubs.

Minneapolis, Minn. – Golf Intelligence acquired StarPlan Data Systems and all of its assets including the Eagle handicapping and tournament management systems.

“Upon full examination of StarPlan’s proven technology and outstanding people, the decision to work together was a no-brainer,” says Erik Dyste, vice president of Golf Intelligence. “The combination of the NGN (National Golf Network) and the Eagle system will enable us to serve every club without any technology barriers.”

“GI has assembled an impressive team with the best technology in the industry,” says Bill Kravit, president of StarPlan. “I’ve spent nearly 25 years trying to provide the best software and services for our customers. GI has developed an absolutely amazing solution to help associations and clubs grow the game. Together, we can deliver a unified solution to serve millions of golfers.”

Founded in 2000, Golf Intelligence provides golf life management services to golfers through golf associations, clubs, organizations and businesses. The company’s National Golf Network and RCGA network are the largest online communities for active golfers, serving more than 2,500 golf clubs in the United States and Canada.

Founded in 1968, StarPlan provides quality handicapping, tournament and league management, and tee-time reservation software to golf clubs through leading golf associations. The company’s software was licensed to the PGA of America in 1991. This software was recently redeveloped to best serve golf associations, clubs, leagues, tournaments and PGA golf professionals.

Both GI and StarPlan are authorized to assist clubs with the issuance of USGA Handicap Indexes and RCGA Factors. GI recently was selected to develop and deploy a nationwide handicap network throughout Canada in partnership with the RCGA. StarPlan is the current handicap service provider for the Golf Association of Ontario.

“StarPlan has excellent relationships with its golf association customers,” says John Montague, c.e.o. and founder of Golf Intelligence. “These relationships will provide a good foundation for us to demonstrate the superiority of our systems and services. We are committed to do whatever it takes to help our customers be successful in this increasingly competitive economy.”

“I absolutely agree with their focus to help golfers feel more connected to the game because we all know that this is the best way to grow the business of golf,” Kravit says. “Connection leads to commitment.”
