Members of the Golf Course Builders Association of America worked from Jan. 26-30 to build a tee box on the Golf Industry Show floor as part of its education series. The piece was designed by Drew Rogers, a golf course architect at Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest and Associates of Toledo, Ohio and built by Ryan Builders of Orlando, Fla.
Part of the tee area was left undone to show the layers that were built underneath, and a glass wall along one of the sides shows the drainage materials. The tee box has a 1.5-percent slope across for drainage, a builder said. The tee box was sodded with Platinum paspalum on the top and Supreme paspalum on the side.
