Golf industry leaders to gather in Budapest

The Golf Business Forum 2004, which will take place in Budapest on 27-28 May 2004, will gather more than 140 business people from 20 different countries.  This year conference will focus on emerging markets.

“We are pleased to see that professionals involved in the business of golf now have a platform to meet, learn and exchange ideas at an exciting and memorable event," said Andrea Sartori, Director of the Golf Business Forum 2004 and partner with KPMG Advisory Services, head of travel, leisure and tourism group in Central and Eastern Europe. "As Hungary, together with nine other European countries is joining the EU on 1 May 2004 and golf is set to "tee off" in Central & Eastern Europe, Budapest makes for an ideal location for such an international event. We hope to meet you all in Budapest at the end of May!"

This meeting will bring together decision makers, developers, entrepreneurs and investors that will be involved in the future development of golf resorts, hotels, golf courses and real estate in emerging markets to enable them to make new business contacts, to discuss hot topics in the industry and to stimulate business development in these areas. Golf Digest, World Travel & Tourism Council, Interval International, Robert Trent Jones II, Toro, Datalink, the European Golf Association, and Fancourt Golf & Country Club have recognized the potential of this interactive business meeting.

As the popularity of golf grows and the demand for international standard courses increases, the interest in the numerous business opportunities affiliated with golf courses also emerges. In developing markets such as Russia, South East Europe, and Central and Eastern Europe, the complexity of golf related development requires that participants in this industry meet in order to exchange information and advice on current opportunities.

More than 30 speakers from diverse backgrounds will share their experience and knowledge to bring forward the numerous development projects in emerging markets. The highly interactive sessions will be featuring, amongst a large group of distinguished speakers, Richard Miller, executive v.p. of the World Travel and Tourism Council, Mathieu Hoeberigs, funding expert of the Tourism Unit of the EU Commission and Kwakye Donkor marketing director of Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate (2004 World Golf Resort of the Year).
