Golf Courses in Bolingbrook to participate in Patriot Golf Day

The Sept. 1 event collects donations to support the families of combat victims.

Bolingbrook Golf Club, owned by the Village of Bolingbrook and operated by KemperSports, and Boughton Ridge Golf Course, owned and operated by the Bolingbrook Park District, are planning to take part in the inaugural Patriot Golf Day on Saturday, Sept. 1, an initiative spear-headed by the PGA of America and the United States Golf Association.

Golfers at each facility will be asked to donate $1 each when they purchase their greens fees. All money raised from the event will be donated to Wounded Warriors, Inc. Wounded Warriors helps support the families of soldiers who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations. The organization was founded by United States Marine Corps Colonel John D. Folsom.

“I believe it’s very important to do what we can to support the families who have made so many sacrifices,” said Bolingbrook Mayor Roger C. Claar.  “This is a good opportunity to help make an impact.”

“We are proud to be a part of such an important cause,” said Ray Ochromowicz, Director of Parks and Recreation for the Bolingbrook Park District.  “The families of our soldiers have sacrificed so much.  This is the least we can do to say thank you.”

Hundreds of courses across the nation are expected to participate in Patriot Golf Day.  For more information about the event, contact the Bolingbrook Golf Club Golf Shop at 630-771-9400, the Boughton Ridge Pro Shop at 630-739-4100, or visit www.playgolfamerica.com.
