Georgia GCSA announces 2022 Legacy Scholarship recipients

10 students receive academic support through annual program.

The Georgia GCSA announced 10 recipients of the 2022 Legacy Scholarships. Scholarship committee leaders Brandon Hayes, Scott Slemp and Tommy Hewitt named winners of the scholarship that offers educational aid to children and grandchildren of Georgia GCSA members. The awards are funded by the Georgia GCSA and sponsored by Jerry Pate Company.

Hayes, from the Great Waters course at Reynolds Lake Oconee, Slemp, from Piedmont Driving Club, and Hewitt, from The Country Club of the South, led the scholarship interviews with help from Jamie Pate of Jerry Pate Company.

Applications were reviewed independently by the Georgia GCSA scholarship committee. Criteria for selection included academic achievement, extracurricular and community involvement, leadership and outside employment. Students were required to submit an essay stating a positive change that they have noticed in their Georgia GCSA parent or grandparent since the onset of the pandemic.
