Heading out to San Diego for the Golf Industry Show? If so, make sure drop by the GCI booth (#810) and catch the following:
1. We’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of the “birth” of GCI in San Diego. A quarter century ago, the old Golf Course News launched as a newsprint tabloid magazine focused primarily on the business side of golf. GIE Media (our wonderful employers) bought rights to the publication in 2005 and we changed the name, expanded it and dramatically improved our digital products. Stop by and wish us a happy (fake) birthday. We’re told there will be balloons and cake pops (whatever the hell those are) to make this phony baloney anniversary.
2. Check out our cool new booth backdrop. This massive image is made up of more than 12,000 individual images. Defintiely have to see it to believe it.
3. Stop by and say high to Pat! He'll be at the booth the entire time... Well, sort of. You'll just have to stop by to see what we mean. While you there, there's a good chance you'll have an opportunity to meet one of GCI's industry-leading columnists, too.
4. Visit the Story Board and leave your best story idea. It just may be the cover story in an upcoming issue. Best idea gets a limited-edition GCI golf shirt.
5. GCI is trending again at the 2013 Golf Industry Show in San Diego. Following on last year’s TweetUp, we’re going to be making social media actually social again. Aquatrols has partnered up with our team to bring the event to the show floor and give Pat another reason to wield a megaphone. Meet up at the Aquatrols booth (#2231) on Wed., Feb. 6, at 3:30 p.m. to join the conversation. We’ll announce this year’s recipients of the Social Media awards and talk about even more turf than we already do online, plus enjoy some cold beverages and music. Use the #GCITweetUp13 tag on Twitter to let us know you’re joining in.
And last but not least, If you have an iPhone or iPad, stop what you’re doing and download our new app right now! Just search for “GCI” and the sneak preview of our new app will pop up. In a few days, our January issue will load automatically and you’ll see what the future of magazines looks like. Not to brag too much, but GCI is one of only a handful of business publications in the country that has a native app like this!
See you in San Diego!
