As with most tasks on the golf course, it is important to have the right tools for safety and efficiency when pruning trees. The following are tree maintenance tools every golf course should have on hand.
- Lopping shears to cut branches up to 1 ½ inches.
- Hedge Shears to cut succulent or small stems.
- Hand saws to cut one- to four-inch braches. (Special tri-cut or razor tooth pruning saws cut through larger braches with ease.)
- A Small Chainsaw can be used by highly trained staff and always in the company of a partner.Personal protective equipment while using a chainsaw is mandatory. A chainsaw should never be used above the shoulder or on a ladder.
