I've always wanted to write the definitive column about the meaning of life. A few hundred words that encapsulates the human experience and what we gain from and add to the collective consciousness of mankind.
But, since I just beat my bloody brains out trying to get out of about 15 different bunkers on the Fazio course at Barefoot Resort, I just don't have the energy to address that enormous question. Instead, I will narrow my focus to this:
What is the meaning of the Carolinas GCSA Conference & Show?
Sure, there's education. Arguably the best quantity and quality of seminars you'll find at a regional event. And there's the show itself. It's one of only a few regional expos that has grown and remained strong in recent years. And there's the golf and fun. No other event offers anything close.
But the real meaning of this little clambake is that it's more of a reunion than a conference. People are here to see other people. It's an interactive experience that just can't be duplicated online or, because of the close connections locally, at the national conference.
When it's all said and done, it comes down to one thing: YOU own this show. If you're a member, you own a piece of this thing. You invest a little more time and attention because what benefits you benefits everyone.
So, for the next couple of days, savor your show. Reach out to new people. Talk to all of the exhibitors who invest in YOUR show. And mostly, try to appreciate the fact that this is a very special event that brings us together like no other.
Note: Our team is delighted to once again be providing the official enewsletter for both days of YOUR show. Let us know if you've got a story for us or if you just want to say hello! I'm at pjones@gie.net.
