Agrium Advanced Technologies (AAT) today announced that they have reached an agreement with the National Hispanic Landscape Alliance (NHLA) to join the organization as a Supporting Member.
Established to support the advancement of the more than 500,000 Hispanic-Americans currently working in the green industry, the NHLA also serves as a key public policy voice helping its members communicate their interest and concerns to elected and appointed officials and others.
“We’re very pleased to be recognized as a Supporting Member of the NHLA,” said Andrew Mittag, president, AAT. “We’re proud to support the growing, dynamic and diverse Hispanic-American workforce in today’s landscape industry, sponsoring a variety of educational and workshop opportunities to continue the NHLA’s continuing education mandate.”
The NHLA provides Hispanic-American landscaping professionals a means through which to collectively advance the interests of their businesses, the livelihood of their employees and the quality of life in the communities in which they live and work. The NHLA also offers its membership a voice in the national dialogue on environmentally-responsible landscape practices, which aligns closely with the sustainable focus of AAT, and its technologically-advanced controlled-release fertilizers.
“More than 80 percent of the entire landscape industry workforce in the U.S. is Spanish-speaking,” said Raul Berrios, the president-elect of the NHLA. “Our mandate remains to further the interests of this integral group, and we’re pleased to partner with like-minded organizations like AAT to help educate and empower our members.”
AAT is also co-sponsoring several of the NHLA’s featured PLANET Green Industry Conference educational presentations, held concurrent to the 2012 GIE + Expo in Louisville, Ky.
“When applied as directed, a product like our Spread it & Forget it controlled-release fertilizer is the most environmentally responsible fertilizer on the market,” said Mittag. “Working with the NHLA, we’re currently translating all of our promotional and handling documents into Spanish to ensure their important messages make it to the hands of our end-users. We are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to educate our end-users about the safest and correct way to apply our fertilizer technologies.”
