The Everglades Golf Course Superintendents Association continues its longtime support of The Environmental Institute for Golf (EIFG), the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), donating $5,000 towards research, education, environmental programs and outreach to enhance golf's relationship with the environment.
"It is very impressive, and much appreciated, that the Everglades GCSA has made this commitment year after year," said Rhett Evans, interim CEO of GCSAA and the EIFG. "This contribution will further golf's drive toward sustainability."
With this donation, the Naples, Fla.-based Everglades GCSA has attained Platinum Tee Club status for the 12th consecutive year. The Platinum Tee Club is the giving club for organizations that contribute a minimum of $5,000 annually. An affiliate chapter of GCSAA, the Everglades GCSA is also recognized as at the Governor's Club level in the cumulative giving program, which recognizes organizations that have contributed between $50,000 and $99,999 to the EIFG since 1987.
"The Everglades GCSA is pleased to continue its support of the EIFG," said Everglades GCSA President Alberto Quevedo, CGCS at Hideout Golf Club in Naples, Fla. "We believe that it is important to fund EIFG programs such as research because of the great benefits they provide to our members."
The EIFG is a collaborative effort of the environmental and golf communities, dedicated to strengthening the compatibility of golf with the natural environment. The EIFG concentrates on delivering programs and services involving research, education and outreach that communicate the best management practices of environmental stewardship on the golf course. Backed by the organizations of Golf 20/20 and the World Golf Foundation, the EIFG is leading the golf course industry's commitment to continual improvement through its initiative Golf's Drive Toward Sustainability.
