The Turf Republic family is expanding

Plum Hollow Country Club superintendent Adam Garr joins the team.

Enhancing the future of the turfgrass industry is our goal and we could not be more happy to continue to do so with our new addition to the Turf Republic family, Golf Course Superintendent Adam Garr.  We could not be more excited to have Adam a part of Turf Republic.  We have some very exciting things planned for the near future.  Below is a word from Adam on his passion for the industry and his thoughts on joining Turf Republic.

Adam Garr, Superintendent Plum Hollow Country Club

Our industry is constantly evolving.  This year we’re beginning to see superintendents and assistants turn to video blogging to communicate with members, the turf community, and people who previously had no idea what a life in turf looked like.

I am fortunate to have been one of the first superintendents at ground level when the GoPro camera took to a golf course and opened members’ eyes to see exactly what it takes to prepare a course for play.  I recognized that we were now able to chronicle maintenance activities in a way that wasn’t possible a few years ago.  The possibilities are limited only by the user’s creativity and imagination.

After my first couple videos, the excitement from my membership was overwhelmingly positive.  They were going out of their way to tell me how proud they are of me, my team, and our club.  Helping to promote my team was a great internal morale booster, as well.  My guys are working harder, and with more pride in the finished product, than at any other point in the ten years I’ve been at my club.  My value to my club is higher than at any point, as well.

Turf Republic recognizes that video blogging is the future of our business.  Communication is, and always will be, the most important tool in the superintendent’s bag.  Videos communicate points in a way that a simple written blog never can.  An image sticks in the mind, and is much more permanent.  You probably remember a scene from the last movie you watched, but can you remember a line from the last book or article you read?

Virtually every club and superintendent has a blog now.  What makes yours stand apart from the others?  Adding video will help broaden your audience, and also be a more informative tool to your membership.  It will help brand you, promote your club, and make you more valuable to your organization.

I’m extremely excited to be joining Turf Republic and participating in the upcoming projects we have planned.  This opportunity will give me the chance to help educate and inspire the next batch of up and coming video bloggers.  I have always considered myself an innovator, and I feel right at home with Turf Republic because they understand that innovation is the force driving our industry, and we will all be stronger turf professionals because of it.  We must continually push ourselves to be better.

Video blogging has awakened a lot of people, taking the stale taste out of an industry that has been stagnant for a while, and the creative juices are really starting to flow now.  We are seeing some fantastic video work from assistants that a few months ago, had very little voice in this industry.  We will continue to see amazing work from these people in the months and years ahead.  Turf Republic is looking forward to promoting, assisting, and inspiring anyone with a camera and the same level of passion that we have.
