| Wayne Kappauf, golf course superintendent at the Island Country Club in Marco Island, Fla., has been recognized by the Everglades Golf Course Superintendents Association (EGCSA) with its Presidents Award for Lifetime Service. The award was presented at the EGCSA annual meeting recently held at Wyndemere Country Club in Naples. The EGCSA is comprised of golf course management professionals in the counties of Collier and Lee in Florida. The award was established in 1985 to honor a EGCSA-member superintendent who has performed admirably and has given their time unselfishly in promoting golf course management and unification of the EGCSA. Kappauf has been an active member of the EGCSA since 1982, and is a past president of the association. Kappauf has been instrumental in the affairs of both the EGCSA and the state chapter, the Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association. He has served on the Board of Directors for each association. Kappauf has been employed for nearly 30 years in the industry including his current position at the Island Country Club since 1995. Previously he was the golf course superintendent at Quail Run Golf Club in Naples from 1982-1995. Kappauf grew up in Naples and graduated from Naples High School in 1978. He graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland in 1982 with a B.S. in Business Management. “Wayne Kappauf is a very deserving recipient of the award because he exemplifies its true meaning,” EGCSA President Darren Davis says.
