Superintendents faced with costly turf repairs resulting from the recent extreme heat and excessive humidity will get a slight reprieve, thanks to a two-month discount program from Tee-2-Green. Starting on August 15, 2010, and running through October 15, participating distributors will offer a discount – 50 cents per pound – on every creeping bentgrass variety.
“It’s no surprise that superintendents are faced with reduced budgets, so the wave of extreme weather experienced throughout much of the country is posing yet another challenge for them to deal with,” explains Bill Rose, president of Tee-2-Green. “Since damaged turf will need to be repaired, we decided to do our part to help ease the financial burden by temporarily reducing the cost of our bentgrass varieties.”
Golf courses across the country – especially in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest – are facing record-setting heat and humidity. Unfortunately, this summer’s extreme weather conditions are prime for diseases such as anthracnose and Pythium blight. If caught early, interseeding or overseeding will easily repair damage from these deadly fungal disease pressures.
“Our crops have been excellent this year. We have adequate inventories and are eager to help out end-users in any way possible,” says Rose.
Participating distributors will offer the 50 cents per pound discount, which applies to every Tee-2-Green creeping bentgrass variety and blend, including Penncross, Penn A’s & G’s, Penneagle and Penneagle II, PennLinks II, Crystal BlueLinks and Seaside II. The discount does not apply to Alister colonial bentgrass. After October 15, the discount will end and pricing will return to normal.
