PGA National Resort & Spa names new director of agronomy

Lukus Harvey will direct team of supers and maintenance professionals.

PGA National Resort & Spa – home of the PGA TOUR Honda Classic and five championship and resort courses – has named Lukus Harvey Director of Agronomy.

Harvey will direct one of the industry’s leading team of golf course superintendents and maintenance professionals responsible for TOUR-level conditions on the famed Champion course (host venue for the Honda Classic), and The Palmer, Haig, Squire and Estates courses.

Prior to joining PGA National, since 2005, Harvey was the golf course and grounds superintendent at the exclusive Jack Nicklaus designed Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida. He worked closed with Nicklaus Design (also architect of The Champion) on course maintenance and design integrity.

Previously Harvey honed his craft at Doral Golf Resort and Spa, John’s Island Club, Calusa Pines Golf Club and Augusta National Golf Club. He is a Class A Member of the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America, and belongs to the Club Managers Association of America. Harvey is a graduate of Ohio State University.

“Lukus brings a tremendous amount of expertise and energy to our agronomy team, and knows what it takes to produce the highest caliber agronomic product in a challenging meteorological environment,” says Joel Paige, Vice President and Managing Director of PGA National. “His passion and commitment will ensure that we continue to provide our guests and members with the best possible course conditions.”
