A few comments about Firestone. Mowing greens at .100' double-cut but only rolling in the evenings to keep them fast (12.5). Fairways are .300. Major rainfall two weeks ago, lots of bunker shoveling but great now. And, as most of you noted, the TV cameras just love this place. Second most telegenic course behind ANGC, IMHO.
They've hosted at least one tour event for an astounding 59 years in a row. Bunch of veteran crew members with decades of experience and great agronomic leadership. The place is a jewel in the ClubCorp crown.
Lastly, during my visit with the Larry Napora and his team I was reminded that Firestone CC recently completed their Audubon Certification. I also enjoyed meeting Renee Geyer, the assistant who led the process.
