Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – owner and operator of more than 115 golf courses, country clubs and resorts – has been retained by the City of Victorville, CA to manage its Green Tree and Westwinds golf courses.
The engagement increases BCG’s management presence to 10 properties in California and 15 in the west region. The company operates other multi-course portfolios in Chicago; Cook County, IL; Tulsa; Cincinnati; Philadelphia; Westchester County, NY; Knoxville, TN, Wilmington, DE and Troy, MI.
BCG will oversee all aspects of Green Tree and Westwinds golf-course maintenance, staffing and training, merchandising, membership programs, marketing and public relations, golf instruction and special events.
The nine-hole Westwinds course, closed since mid-2009, will re-open this fall with a new player- development program focused on women’s and junior golf, and special events.
“We’re excited to provide residents with two terrific golf courses to enjoy,” says Jon Gargan, Director of Community Services for the City of Victorville. “Under the leadership of Billy Casper Golf, Green Tree and Westwinds will be operated in a first-class, fiscally responsible manner.”
“We look forward to enhancing the strong offerings at Green Tree, as well as re-opening Westwinds to the public,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG. “Golfers will realize the Billy Casper Golf difference in the short term.”
BCG will enroll Green Tree and Westwinds in the Audubon International “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” program, ensuring high standards protecting the environment and preserving the natural heritage of golf. Results include a reduction of maintenance costs, including insurance premiums, energy, water, pesticides, fertilizer, equipment wear and labor.
About Green Tree
Designed by William F. Bell, the 18-hole, 6,655-yard, par-72 Green Tree Golf Course opened in October 1963 and has long been a player’s favorite for its manageable length and shot-making opportunities.
The spacious clubhouse – a marvel of modern design – is the Victor Valley’s newest venue for corporate outings, weddings and other social engagements. State-of-the-art audio visual, WiFi and three 15-foot video screens are perfect accoutrements for presentation.
About Westwinds
