In an effort to raise research funds, The Illinois Turfgrass Foundation (ITF) is sponsoring the Bigpar3, the World’s Largest Closest to the Flagstick Contest, which is to be held at several golf courses throughout the Chicagoland area and northwest Indiana on August 21st. The event is open to the public during the allotted time specified by the participating golf course/club.
Each participant will be given the opportunity to hit one tee shot from a specified distance (150 yards for
men and 120 yards for women and juniors) in attempt to have their ball come to rest at the shortest
measured distance from the golf hole. The final resting distance of each shot will be recorded along with
the golfer’s name and contact information. The statistics will be tabulated and at the conclusion of the day
champions of the Bigpar3 will be announced.
Prizes will be awarded based upon age, sex, and club/course affiliation. In addition, one golf course/club
will be awarded the pride of being crowned champion determined by a collective group score of their best
shots. The statistics of the event will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records.
