BCG to manage Harbour Pointe GC

Billy Casper Golf (BCG) has been selected to manage Harbour Pointe Golf Course, part of  the Fairfield Harbour resort and residential community in coastal New Bern, N.C., just west of the iconic Outer Banks.

The engagement increases BCG’s portfolio to 15 courses in the Mid-Atlantic region.
BCG will oversee all aspects of the Harbour Pointe operation, including golf course and property maintenance, sales, marketing and public relations, staffing and training, merchandising, restaurant and banquet activities, financial management, golf instruction and special events.

Fairfield Harbour is one of the premier residential and resort communities in eastern North Carolina with 1,300 single family homes, condominiums, town homes and time shares.  Outdoor pursuits, including boating, fishing, golf, tennis and swimming, speak to an active lifestyle.

“Billy Casper Golf is successful helping golf courses realize greatness,” says Donnie Shaw, Managing Member of Midsouth Golf, owner of Harbour Pointe.  “Backed by our capital commitment and desire to elevate Harbour Pointe to a first-class facility, Billy Casper Golf has the resources to expertly manage day-to-day operations.”

“Fairfield Harbour is a terrific resort-style community,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG.  “The impressive long-term commitment to restore the course to modern-day standards is poised to stimulate golfers and meet the needs of property owners.”

Capital enhancement plans include retro-fitting the irrigation system, upgrading the irrigation pump station, bunker work, new golf carts and renovating the Harbour Pointe clubhouse to serve as a central social gathering place for property owners and guests.

BCG will enroll Harbour Pointe in the Audubon International “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” program, ensuring high standards protecting the environment and preserving the natural heritage of golf.  Participating courses see increased efficiencies in maintenance, energy, water, pesticides, fertilizer, equipment wear and labor.

This resort-style 18-hole, par-72, 6,577-yard championship course winds golfers through a unique natural setting of picturesque coastal marsh lands.  A challenging layout with undulating greens and water hazards on several holes keep both experienced and novice golfers returning time and again. A well-appointed practice area with a driving range complements the golf experience.
