Whispering Springs Golf Course is hustling to restore a green where vandals dug more than 200 holes over the weekend.
On the night of April 8, someone entered the course at 380 Whispering Springs Drive and, using a shovel, removed chunks of turf on the third green.
The person or persons carried the turf about 30 yards to a creek, said Zach Trepanier, golf shop manager.
The damage to the course is estimated at about $10,000, he said.
Matt Schmitz, superintendent and director of golf operations, was the first person to spot the destruction.
“Between our grounds crew and some guys associated with the course, they spent the entire (Saturday) afternoon putting the turf back into the ground,” Trepanier said.
