SePRO: Products receive EPA approval

SePRO announced a pair of products have recieved their EPA approval.

SePRO's Caliente herbicide has been approved by the U.S. EPA for use on Southern turfgrass.  Caliente is an innovative dual mode of action herbicide that provides highly effective broadleaf and grassy-weed post-emergent activity.  Caliente provides excellent turfgrass safety on most established southern turfgrass species and contains the power of Octane® herbicide technology inside, resulting in faster kill of a broad-spectrum of broadleaf weeds.

“Multiple University trials have shown Caliente to be highly effective against a very broad-spectrum of broadleaf weeds including the toughest weeds like dollarweed, Florida pusley, white clover and many others.” according to Todd Bunnell Ph.D., SePRO’s Turf & Ornamental Research Manager and Golf Market Manager.  “Fast action and broad-spectrum activity of Caliente will provide higher levels of customer satisfaction and reduced customer callbacks.”

“Caliente combines everything you would want in herbicide: it is fast, economical, broad weed spectrum and excellent turf safety all in one product”, said Roger Storey, SePRO’s Vice President, Turf & Ornamental Business.  “Caliente herbicide will be another great new tool for the professional turfgrass manager.”

SePRO also announced Edgeless turf growth regulator has been approved by the U.S. EPA for edging and banding applications to commercial, industrial and residential turfgrass.  Edgeless contains patented turf growth regulator technology, which will control turf growth on both warm- and cool-season turfgrasses.  Edgeless can be applied to reduce the frequency of string trimming along fence lines, trees, posts and poles, mailboxes and gravestones.  Edgeless can also be used to reduce the need for edging along the perimeter of lawns, landscape beds, sidewalks, curbs, parking lots and driveways.

Research trials with Edgeless have demonstrated more uniform growth regulation of multiple warm- and cool-season turfgrass species due to the multisite mode of action of Edgeless, and dual sites of entry into the plant.  “The patented synergy technology of Edgeless will provide more uniform turf growth suppression and length of control that has not been available from current plant growth regulators.  Results have shown Edgeless to suppress turf growth and reduce the frequency of string trimming or edging for up to 8 weeks.” according to Todd Bunnell Ph.D., SePRO’s Turf & Ornamental Research Manager.

“Edgeless will be a valuable labor savings tool for landscape maintenance contractors and property managers to reduce string trimming frequency, resulting in reduced time on the job site, reduced injury to trees and shrubs, less chance of accidents, less equipment maintenance, and less fuel consumption and emissions.” said Storey, SePRO’s Vice President, Turf & Ornamental Business.  “Edgeless will provide an attractive alternative to unsightly non-selective herbicide applications along fences, around posts, and other turf areas where herbicide has been used to reduce string trimming.”
