Honours Golf Co. selected to Manage Cider Ridge Golf ClubHonours Golf Co. has been selected by the City of Oxford, Ala., to manage all golf course and clubhouse operations for Cider Ridge Golf Club. Located midway between Birmingham and Atlanta and minutes from the renowned Talladega Race Track, the municipal course features a par 72, 18-hole regulation length course set within a 450 home golf community.

“Honours Golf is proud to have been given the opportunity to manage Cider Ridge,” said company Chief Executive Officer Bob Barrett. “Being an Alabama-based company, we are excited to work with a local course to make it the best it can be and to promote the golfing industry in our state.”

Cider Ridge Golf Course offers a classic mountain-style layout designed by Alabama-based Bill Bergin of Bergin Design. The course sits at the base of the state’s tallest mountain – Mt. Cheaha. It features tree-lined fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and sloping greens.  The golf course includes a variety of beautiful Alabama terrain characteristics, including numerous peaks and valleys, streams and lakes, mountain vistas, dense hardwood forests and 100-year-old majestic oaks.

The course also provides a glimpse into Alabama’s rural past. It was built on the grounds of an old apple orchard and takes its name from the history of the property.  More than 100 years ago, the Melon Apple Orchard grew up to 11,000 bushels of apples annually on the property, and at its peak, produced 20,000 gallons of apple cider there.  There is a century old rock reservoir and remnants of an old grist, saw and gin mill still visible on the property.
