The Embassy Suites Golf Resort & Spa and its Concord, N.C.-based Rocky River Golf Club have named Ryan Brickley director of golf and Joel White as golf course superintendent.
Brickley comes to the resort from Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation, where he was head golf professional for two years. White was the resort’s assistant superintendent for four years before serving as interim superintendent this past winter.
Brickley and White will work together to improve course conditions and the overall golfer experience at Rocky River Golf Club.
“Ryan and Joel are going to provide the lift that will deliver a great golfing experience for our customers,” said resort general manager Terry Crawford. “Ryan and Joel both bring the professionalism and experience that will support our goal to continue to make Rocky River Golf Club the premier public course in our area.”
Brickley is an Ohio native with several years of experience in the Charlotte golf market. Before joining Olde Sycamore, he was an assistant pro at Ballantyne Country Club for two years. Prior to that, he spent three years as director of instruction at NorthStone Country Club and two years as director of instruction at the Michael Jordan Golf Center.
“In previous roles, I was only involved with the golf portion,” Brickley said. “This gives me the opportunity to manage the overall operation. One of my goals is to make sure the condition of the golf course is where it needs to be on an ongoing basis.”
Brickley, who started his new role March 15, said this could be a good year for the course given the fact that so many people stay on property at the Embassy Suites, and so many local golfers are itching to play after a long, cold winter.
