Digital Coffee Shop: Tiger who?

Pat Jones focuses his attention on other areas of interest at this year's big "toonament" in Augusta. Plus: New podcast.

Okay, I’m fed up with the whole thing and I’ve decided to ignore the obvious (“He Who Must Not Be Named”) and mention a few other interesting items about this year’s big “toonament” in Augusta:

First, there’s a new practice area for the world’s best to enjoy. Check out the cool graphic/map in this story from Augusta.com:

Second, here’s a bit of Masters lore that I’d never seen in any official history. The key quote is: "Sarazen grinned and replied that he suddenly realized that he was not properly attired to pursue the intruder in the hotel corridors." We wonder how He Who Must Not Be Named would have reacted to similar circumstances.

Finally, I won a bet on my prediction that Martha Burk, the “activist” who organized the lamest protest ever against Augusta National in 2002 would find a way to grab a share of the spotlight again this year considering the attention on He Who Must Not Be Named. Key quote from this Daily News item: “In this way, and others, Burk says her campaign against Augusta was successful. Yet there are still no women members at Augusta.” Yeah, right.

Last, but not least, check out what a Southern turf expert says about the spring agronomic conditions in the Southeast…including around that little course that Bobby Jones created…in our newest podcast featuring Dr. Kathie Kalmowitz of BASF. CLICK HERE AND LISTEN NOW.

As always, our best to Brad Owen and the rest of the team down at ANGC. The course will, as always, be perfect…even if He Who Must Not Be Named isn’t.
