Cherry Blossom Course receives accolade for eighth consecutive year

Golf course architect Clyde Johnston clearly got it right with his design of the Cherry Blossom Golf & Country Club in Georgetown, Ky. For the eighth consecutive year – and every year since it opened – the course has landed on top of Golfweek Magazine’s annual listing of Best Public Access Golf Courses in the state. 

Golfweek’s much anticipated annual course rankings appear in the March 12 issue of the magazine and represents the work of 550 ranking panelists Cherry Blossom No. 18evaluating courses through a variety of criteria, including ease and intimacy of routing; natural setting and overall land plan; and variety and memorability of the 18 holes.

Said Johnston, “I am delighted that Cherry Blossom has been so well-received by the golfing public and that it is once again considered on Golfweek’s list of premier courses.”

The 6,812-yard Cherry Blossom design is the centerpiece of Cherry Blossom Village, a 427-acre planned community in the rolling horse-country just outside Lexington, KY. In its first year Cherry Blossom was ranked by Golf Digest panelists among “America’s Best New Affordable Public Courses for 2002.”

It is Johnston’s second golf course in the Lexington area.
