Tee-2-Green Seeds of Fortune 2013 winners

University of Connecticut Turf Club takes home trophy.

Tee-2-Green, the leading worldwide marketer of bentgrass varieties for golf courses, congratulates the University of Connecticut Turf Club team on winning the annual Tee-2-Green Collegiate Turf Team Challenge.

Top turf schools from around the country competed in the Turf Team Challenge at the Golf Industry Show in San Diego by answering a series of turf- and golf-related questions. At the end of two days, four teams were tied with 4,500 points.

In the championship playoff round, the UConn Turf Club edged out last year’s championship team, Ohio State, as well as SUNY Cobleskill and Oregon State University. The UConn Turf Club will now have their name etched into the prestigious turf team trophy, receive a plaque commemorating their win and have a year’s worth of bragging rights over teams from the other schools.

“We were very excited to host the event, because we have always enjoyed meeting the students each year as they stopped by our booth,” said Lew Sharp, Tee-2-Green agronomist and golf course consultant. “Again, this year, it was great to see the students compete at such a high level.”
