WICHITA, KS - Koch Agronomic Services, LLC (KAS) names Edmund Carmody as the new director of sales, turf and ornamental. Carmody is tasked with aligning sales teams and channel partners to help educate and support continued growth, demand for enhanced efficiency fertilizers.
“Any type of technology, whether it's equipment, irrigation or in this case, fertilizer technology, needs to be revisited under today's standards,” states Carmody. “The reality is that we must find new ways of doing the same or more with less.”
Ed Carmody has been working in the specialty fertilizer market since the mid '90s. He holds a degree in turf grass management from Michigan State University and a business degree from Walsh College. Carmody has extensive experience as a superintendent and as a Technical Sales Representative for the Scotts Company, Pursell Technologies and Great Salt Lake Minerals, where he sold potassium sulfate to specialty Ag and turf markets.
Carmody recognizes the biggest challenge facing turf professionals over the last five years is simply how to do the same or more with less-less dollars, less labor, less time.
KAS continues to apply resources to further educate on solutions available today, as well as uncover new technologies that help its customers achieve more with greater efficiency. It's able to do this through its strong network of R&D and agronomists.
“Maybe there's an environmental or budgetary concern,” adds Carmody. “If you're using an efficient fertilizer such as UMAXX® Mini stabilized nitrogen, you can address these by using variable rates available through granular vs. liquid applications.”
Tim Sturm, vice president of KAS, complements Carmody's drive to unite through education, innovation and acceptance.
“Transparency in sharing university research and chemistry is a vital component for responsible advancement within the industry,” says Sturm. KAS is doing just this by partnering its R&D and agronomists with universities, regulators and customers.”
With continuing focus on regulatory activity, efficient nitrogen fertilizers will continue to be an important area of focus for the turf industry of today and tomorrow.
