TPC Sawgrass was applauded as a model Wednesday when state officials held an environmental seminar for Jacksonville-area golf course managers at the Ponte Vedra Beach course.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the PGA Tour hosted a free environmental outreach seminar for golf course managers and superintendents at the club. The seminar was designed to help area golf courses handle environmental issues, using many of the practices at TPC Sawgrass as examples.
Several specialists discussed topics including proper management of solid and hazardous waste, wetland protection, stormwater protection, wastewater minimization, reclaimed water use and proper management and use of storage tanks.
