It's obvious that The Colonel has never attended a Golf Industry Show (see image to the left). The poor pooch was pretty tuckered out and it wasn't even noon yet on the first day of GIS 2015.
But that's OK because this special three-legged canine has been trained to help wounded veterans deal with their post-traumatic stress and depression issues, even deterring suicide.
The Colonel and his human (Bart Sherwood) are part of San Antonio-based TADSAW (Train A Dog-Save A Warrior) and are guests of Lebanon Turf (Booth #9099).
TADSAW's mission is to provide for the training of medical alert service dogs, as designated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, for any wounded warrior, active duty or veteran, surviving with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Military Sexual Trauma, (MST), and/or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), to restore and improve the warrior's quality of life with a canine "Battle Buddy" at no charge to the warrior.
"Every day 22 combat-engaged veterans commit suicide and a dog -- a battle buddy -- could have really made a difference in their lives," Sherwood says. "Train a dog and save a warrior... that's our goal and what we're here to promote."
Today at 1 p.m. Lebanon Turf will be presenting TADSAW with a $1,000 donation.

But who says man can only have one best friend? Jacobsen’s Certified Pre-Owned program partnered with Patriot PAWS, a non-profit organization that provides disabled American veterans with service dogs at no cost.
Professional dog trainer Lori Stevens started Patriot PAWS in 2006, and teaches dogs to assist the mobility impaired, like picking up dropped items or helping with household chores. She was joined by her demo dog Jazz, a five-year-old yellow lab, at the show Wednesday.
Jacobsen made an initial contribution to the program, and is also donating funds for every piece of CPO equipment it sells.
