The folks at Barenbrug were pretty happy to share with GCI the recent accolade its Regenerating Perennial Ryegrass (RPR) received last month from the Sport Turf Manager Association.
Launched last year, Barenbrug's RPR received the group's Innovative Product Award at its annual conference, which took place last month in Austin, Texas.
"It's (the STMA's) 'new greatest thing since slice bread' award," says Jeremy Husen, marketing/communications manager with Barenbrug. "It really was quite an honor for us and it reflects the hard work that was put into developing RPR over the last 10 years."
Because RPR germinates very quickly, Husen says the seed has become a popular choice with superintendents overseeding in cool season climates. In addition, the the perennial ryegrass stands up to heavy traffic by retaining a favorable look and color.
"We're very excited to be talking with superintendents about RPR at this year's GIS," Husen added.
