The Golf Course Builders Association (GCBAA) will conduct a tutorial on using the 2008 Guide to Estimating Golf Course Construction. The tutorial will be held Friday, Feb. 6, during the Golf Industry Show in New Orleans.
"This will be the first time we have taken the opportunity to demonstrate to developers, builders and architects how to take full advantage of the information contained in the guide," says GCBAA Executive Director Paul Foley. "The guide not only has more than 60 average price line items, it also takes into account regional differences based on environmental considerations. It has become a critical resource for developing the ever-important cost estimates for golf course construction and renovation."
The tutorial will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. in room 2665 at the show site. It’s free and open to both members and non-members. The 2008 Guide to Estimating Golf Course Construction is available on CD and costs $50 for members and $100 for non-members. To order, contact the GCBAA at 402-476-4444 or online at www.gcbaa.org.
"Several ASGCA members, including myself, have found the GCBAA Cost Guide to be very accurate in building a construction investment estimate," says Bruce Charlton, president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. "I know of one estimate on an $8.5 million renovation project that was within $100,000 of the final construction investment. That is very important in the economic situation we are currently in when budget figures need to be very tight."
