Growing in leaps and bounds, the Golf Course Builders Association of America recently reported it saw 22 percent growth in membership in 2006. In addition to its membership growth, the GCBAA also reported an increase in charter members and an expansion of membership program benefits.
The GCBAA reported that 69 new members joined the organization in 2006 to share in the GCBAA's golf industry-building resources and services. In joining the GCBAA, members enjoy access to various LPGA, PGA and USGA events and they're listed in the GCBAA's membership directory and on the organization's Web site.
Members are invited to attend the GCBAA's annual meeting held at the Golf Industry Show and the GCBAA's summer meeting held in conjunction with the PGA Championship. These meetings provide opportunities for all members to discuss issues relevant to the golf construction industry, voice opinions on affairs of the GCBAA, attend educational seminars and network with other members.
In addition to the 69 members who joined the GCBAA, the organization also added 10 new charter members. By becoming a charter member, individuals or groups demonstrate their commitment to the principles, professionalism and resources the GCBAA provides its members and the golf construction industry. Charter members express their support by making a one-time minimum contribution of $5,000 above their annual membership dues.
GCBAA membership benefits also increased with the expansion of the GCBAA's quarterly newsletter, "EarthShaping NEWS," from 12 to 24 pages and new marketing brochures, highlighting the benefits of GCBAA membership. "EarthShaping NEWS" contains items of interest to those involved in the golf course construction industry and now includes details on membership meetings, lists of new members and updates on the association's programs and activities. News releases from members are also included in the "Movers and Shapers" column and classified advertising is available. The newsletter is distributed to GCBAA members, golf course architects, golf media and others with an interest in the golf course construction industry.
"The GCBAA is very proud of its history and progress in supporting the golf construction industry," said Paul Foley, GCBAA executive director. "As the GCBAA is a member-driven association, one of the major keys to the GCBAA's success is its members' support. We look forward to seeing continued growth in 2007 with even more new members, programs and services."
