Frost Inc. has unveiled ASTRO (Autonomous Sprayer for Turf Range Operations), an autonomous sprayer purpose-built specifically for golf course greens.
Designed to deliver consistent, highly accurate applications in the most precision-sensitive areas of the course, ASTRO represents a significant advancement in turf spray technology. With its compact footprint and intelligent navigation capabilities, the unit is engineered to help superintendents address labor challenges while maintaining the highest standards of greens performance.
“ASTRO is the result of listening carefully to the needs of superintendents,” said Ken Rost, CEO of Frost Inc. “Golf course maintenance teams are being asked to do more with fewer resources. We believe autonomous spray technology, paired with the proven accuracy of our GPS sprayers, offers a smarter path forward.”
The launch of ASTRO builds on Frost Inc.’s strong reputation for innovation in spray technology. The company’s GPS-guided sprayer systems, including its Kubota-powered Ninja GPS Spray Control platform, have earned trust across the industry for their accuracy, repeatability and efficiency. Together, GPS precision and autonomous capability represent Frost Inc.’s vision of Spray Technology Products — delivering the right application, at the right rate, exactly where it’s needed.
To power ASTRO’s autonomous capabilities, Frost Inc. partnered with Mach, a leader in innovative autonomous solutions. Mach provides the advanced mapping, navigation and autonomy platform that enables ASTRO to operate safely and reliably in complex golf course environments.
“We’re proud to collaborate with Frost Inc. to bring autonomy to turf applications,” Mach said in a statement. “By combining Frost’s deep expertise in spray systems with our rugged autonomy platform, ASTRO delivers real-world innovation to golf course operations.”
ASTRO is available early in 2026 to existing Frost Inc. customers in the United States and will be available to the wider market later in the year.
