A golf professional since 1992 and a Class “A” golf professional since 1998, Woods now oversees all golf-related operations for Forsgate’s two 18-hole championship golf courses:  the renowned Banks Course, named one of the Top-50 courses in the New York metropolitan area by The Met Golfer, and the Palmer Course, a traditional design that features water hazards on ten of its scenic holes.

As director of golf, Woods conducts and directs all member lessons, clinics, and tournaments; prepares and oversees budgets; supervises head and assistant golf professional staff members; interprets and enforces club policies and regulations; and interfaces with club officials and Golf Committee members

“Jim Woods has been invaluable to the membership at Forsgate,” said General Manager Det Williams.  “He has endeared himself to our members thanks in large part to his success as head teaching professional and the outstanding Membership Tournament program he coordinated for the club’s members.  He is richly deserving of this promotion, and I am confident he will continue to enhance our golf program with his innovative ideas.”

Prior to joining Forsgate in 2004, Woods served as the director of golf instruction at the Conklin Sports Park in Conklin, N.Y.

In addition, he spent nearly seven years as head PGA professional and manager for Heritage Country Club (formerly the IBM Country Club) in Johnson City, N.Y.  For two consecutive years (1998, 1999) during his tenure at this facility, The Press and Sun Bulletin Reader’s Choice Awards named Woods “Best Golf Professional” in the southern tier of New York.

Woods has been playing golf since the age of five and has qualified and competed in the PGA TOUR’s BC Open in 1999 and 2003. In addition, he was a US Open Medalist in the local qualifier and a sectional contender in 2003.

Woods currently resides in West Windsor, N.J.
