The manual is a culmination of three years of data gathering, meetings, proofreading and editing by the following groups and agencies: Florida Dept. of Environmental Protection; Florida Dept. of Agriculture; South Florida, Southwest Florida and St. Johns River Water Management District; Florida Dept. of Community Affairs, University of Florida Institute for Agricultural Sciences Environmental Horticulture researchers and extension agents; Audubon International and Sierra Club;  Golf Course Superintendents Association of American and Florida golf course superintendents, architects, owners and management companies.

This manual provides practical and attainable guidelines for environmentally safe turfgrass management and general practices on golf courses and is written for a wide audience including state and local lawmakers, regulators, golf courses and the general public.

The manual, based on the best peer-reviewed science currently available, offers an Environmental Check List that any golf course can follow to improve its environmental foot print on Florida’s landscape; while continuing to be an environmental and economic asset to the surrounding community and the state.
The Florida GCSA consists of twelve regional chapters and more than 1,000 golf course superintendent and assistant superintendent members.
