The Naples, Florida-based Club at TwinEagles and its director of golf course operations, Jeff Burgoyne, earned the highest chapter award in the private facilities category of the 2008 Environmental Leaders in Golf Award from the Golf Course Superintendents Association and Golf Digest magazine.
The 14 chapter awards are presented annually to the golf course superintendent of a property that represents the highest level of commitment to environmental stewardship. The winners are selected from GCSAA’s 101 affiliated chapters.
Award entrants were judged in five categories: water management, resource conservation, integrated pest management, wildlife/habitat preservation and education/outreach. Each category required documentation of sustainability, criticality, originality and technology used.
