Troon takes over management of Finkbine G.C. at U of Iowa

67-year-old course serves as the home of the Hawkeyes men’s and women’s golf teams.

Troon has been selected to manage FinkbineGolf Course, a daily-fee facility in Iowa City, Iowa. Located on the western edge of the University of Iowa campus, Finkbine Golf Course is owned by the university and serves as the home course for the university’s women's and men's golf teams.

Named after W.O. Finkbine, who donated the land to the school, the course opened for play in 1953 and was designed by Robert Harris and Dick Nugent. Over the years, Finkbine Golf Course has been home to numerous NCAA tournaments, a 1991 Hogan Tour event and the 1992 and 1993 “Hawkeye Classic” Nike Tour tournaments. More recently, the course hosted the Iowa Match Play in 2013, the Iowa State Men’s Amateur in 2014, the Iowa Women’s Amateur in 2016, and the U.S. Men’s Amateur in 2017 qualifier. The course stretches 7,200 yards over rolling Iowa terrain and plays to a par of 72.

“We are truly excited to partner with Troon to help manage the day-to-day operations at Finkbine Golf Course,” said Matt Henderson, senior associate athletic director, University of Iowa athletics department.  “Troon’s focus on providing a premier golfing experience is exactly what we were looking for as we … continue to enhance one of the top golf courses in the Midwest.”

Finkbine Golf Course will also unveil the Nagle Family Clubhouse, a 19,000-square-foot facility.

“Finkbine has long been considered one of the top public courses in Iowa,” Troon COO Bruce Glasco said. “Through operational efficiencies, proven marketing programs and a hyper-focus on guest service and satisfaction, we will look to improve an already outstanding golf property.”

Committed to growing throughout the Midwest, Troon opened a Chicago office last year following the acquisition of Green Golf Partners.
