Fairways & Dreams to host Extreme Golf Expo X at Stone Mountain Golf Club

The event will be held Aug. 5-6.

Fairways & Dreams, LLC and the DeKalb County Convention and Visitors Bureau are pleased to announce the first ever Extreme Golf Expo XGX 2006 event will be conducted on the Stonemont Course at the lovely Stone Mountain Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday August 5-6.

Steve Hupe, General Manger of the Stone Mountain Golf Club, is delighted to have Fairways & Dreams return to Atlanta.  “We were very pleased with the results of the Golf Fest we hosted in 2001 as approximately 10,000 golf fans visited Stone Mountain Golf Club over the two-day event," he says.  "This new and more exciting Extreme Golf Expo builds on the successful model we helped pilot and we expect an even greater experience for all those involved in this year’s event.”

Jerry Fox, President and CEO of Fairways & Dreams, describes XGX as “a golf experience like no other.”  Designed for golfers of all skill levels and their families, XGX is a two day expo celebrating the sport of golf.

XGX is not your conventional golf outing. Fairways & Dreams has developed some extremely challenging skills contests that will give local golfers a taste of what the tour players face to win the big ones. And, they will have the opportunity to win big as well, with grand prizes including houses, boats, cars and large screen TVs.

In addition to the 12 golf skill challenges that offer the huge grand prizes, XGX has activities and attractions for everyone in the golfer’s family.  The trick shot artistry of the inCOMPARABLE Kevin Compare is amazing! The Fashions for Fairways show put on by the CLEO agency brings the latest in golfing apparel for men, women and children. The James Sieckmann Golf Academy will be onsite for the weekend, providing instruction to help you build your skills. Sickman is the "Teacher of the Pro's", currently instructing 8 PGA touring professionals.  Special areas for kids and juniors will provide fun and positive introductory experiences to the game.

Renny Roker, CEO of the TEENS ON THE GREEN foundation, is excited about their opportunity to be partner with Fairways & Dreams in this event and to directly benefit through a share of the gate.  “This is exactly the kind of experience our teens need to help learn about how to set and accomplish life goals using golf as the model," he says. "It will support our mission to connect teens of all nationalities and cultures to create a unique opportunity for tomorrow’s leaders to begin to learn and appreciate one another.  Moreover, the funds we generate via XGX will be a significant contribution to our ongoing efforts to create golf and college scholarship opportunities for deserving young people.”
