As the voracious gypsy moth begins its annual spring banquet on customers’ valuable trees, Envirometrics Systems has made it easier and less expensive to stop them with its BugBarrier Tree Band.
Environmetrics now has a United States warehouse and distribution center, according to commercial sales manager Brian Pancoast. He says the Charlotte, N.C. facility was established to reduce border costs for small orders.
“Customs fees are less per kit when we ship a truckload rather than smaller orders,” Pancoast explains. “This will make it more attractive for our distributors to fill one and two kit orders without incurring high shipping costs. Multi-pallet orders will continue to be shipped to distributors directly from the London, Ontario factory.”
The BugBarrier Tree Band is effective, clean, easy to install and remove, and contains no pesticide. The USDA tested the band and reported that it is 100 percent effective at stopping gypsy moth caterpillars from crawling back into trees after their siestas in the shade.
The BugBarrier Tree Band consists of a dense, flexible, fiber barrier, which is wrapped around the trunk to fill bark crevices. An adhesive film barrier is intalled over the fiber, with the adhesive facing the tree.
The band will continue to be sold through distributors, and orders will continue to be processed through the New York sales office. For product information and a list of distributors, contact Pancoast at 800-379-9677 or e-mail bpancoast@enviometrics.ca.
