INDIANAPOLIS — Elin Miller announced in early February that she is leaving her position as Chair of Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment, as a result of her departure from Dow AgroSciences.
In a statement, Miller explained her decision. “This is a very exciting time for my family as we pursue different personal interests,” Miller said.
“Obviously, we greatly regret that our industry and our association will not benefit from her leadership for the full two-year term of her elected office as Chairman,” RISE said in a statement. Miller became Chair of RISE in September 2003.
However, RISE has an ascension plan in place. Dan Untiedt of MGK, will become chairman upon Miller’s departure. He currently serves as vice-chair of RISE.
“We are pleased that Elin has agreed to remain as chairman through April of this year, to provide sufficient transition time as Dan adjusts his business schedule to accommodate his new role as Chairman of RISE,” RISE reported. “He will become chairman automatically upon the resignation of Ms. Miller and will serve until September 2004.”
Miller was chosen to lead the Global Urban Pest Business Unit for Dow AgroSciences in 2000. The company reorganized in 2002 and Miller became vice president of Global Pest Management. Earlier in her tenure with Dow, Miller was Global Vice President of Public Affairs, Dow Chemical.
“Elin had a very strong career in a variety of different roles within Dow AgroSciences and outside the industry,” said Mark Neterer, national commercial manager for Dow AgroSciences. “She’s contributed in a lot of ways from government and public affairs for Dow AgroSciences and Dow Chemical and then leading the pest management business the last few years.”
Miller’s career in the chemical industry also includes time spent as a former association executive and California state regulator.
