E-Z-GO to sponsor World Club Championship at Sage Valley Golf Club

Event celebrates amateur golf, features players from world's greatest courses.

E-Z-GO, a manufacturer of golf cars and utility vehicles, will sponsor the 2006 World Club Championship, a prestigious amateur golf tournament played at Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville, S.C., and televised by The Golf Channel.

From November 15-17, Sage Valley will welcome two-man teams from 18 of the world's greatest golf courses, including top-ranked Pine Valley G.C. (New Jersey), 2007 U.S. Open host Oakmont C.C. (Pennsylvania), and St. Andrews in Scotland, the home of golf. Now in its sixth year, the event will be televised (tape-delay) on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. EST.

In keeping with E-Z-GO's long-standing support of amateur golf, the World Club Championship was created to celebrate the game's roots and traditions. In all, 11 different countries will be represented at the event, which was held in South Korea the past five years. Only courses ranked among GOLF Magazine's top 100 in the world are eligible to participate and the competition promises to be strong -- the tournament features the men's club champion from each course and a teammate of his choosing.

As an event sponsor, E-Z-GO will be featured in televised footage on The Golf Channel, host a party for participants and other tournament associates, and receive logo placement on scoreboards as well as practice-round flagsticks. E-Z-GO executives will also play in the pre-tournament Benefactors Cup alongside competing players.

Several of the invited clubs are equipped with E-Z-GO golf car fleets, including Sage Valley, while fellow Textron companies Bell Helicopter and Cessna Aircraft join E-Z-GO as partners in the tournament.

"E-Z-GO is proud of its association with the World Club Championship, a one-of-a-kind event that pays tribute to amateur golf tradition," said E-Z-GO president John L. Garrison. "E-Z-GO enjoys lasting relationships with many of the participating clubs and has tremendous admiration for their contributions to golf. We look forward to a great week of golf, goodwill and camaraderie at Sage Valley."
