E-Z-GO, a manufacturer of golf cars and utility vehicles, announced it donated a four-passenger golf car to Camp Davis, a non-profit organization owned and operated by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence, R.I.
Located in Charlestown, R.I., Camp Davis uses the electric-powered golf car – outfitted and delivered by E-Z-GO distributor Country Club Enterprises of Wareham, Mass. - to transport staff and campers around its 106-acre grounds. The year-round camp hosts as many as 300 youths per day during the summer months, and director Justin Waranis says the golf car has proved an invaluable tool.
“I can’t tell you how useful the E-Z-GO has been around our camp,” Waranis says. “We’ve used it to transport campers who have minor injuries, to get water and supplies to our different program areas each morning, and for many other purposes since it handles our terrain so well. We’re extremely grateful to E-Z-GO for providing this fantastic gift.”
Camp Davis offers a safe, affordable experience to develop campers’ knowledge of the outdoors, improve their social skills and personal fitness, foster leadership and teamwork, enhance self-esteem, respect for others, and appreciation of the natural world. E-Z-GO is a longtime supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs, whose mission is “to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.” Since 1995, E-Z-GO has raised more than $600,000 through its annual Boys & Girls Clubs Golf Classic in Augusta, Ga.
“We’re delighted to make this donation to Camp Davis, which teaches kids important life lessons in a beautiful outdoor environment,” says Kathleen Searle, Vice President of Communications at E-Z-GO and Boys & Girls Club Board Member in Georgia. “Justin and his staff provide a great service to the kids of the Boys & Girls Clubs and to the state of Rhode Island. We’re always proud when our vehicles are used to support such a worthwhile cause, and thrilled that Camp Davis has found the golf car so helpful.”
E-Z-GO has donated a number of vehicles to important causes recently, including the Wounded Warrior Center at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Easter Seals East Georgia, and an auction benefiting the United Way’s “United in Caring” fund in Blacksburg, Va., sight of the Virginia Tech campus shootings on April 16.
