E-Z-GO, a manufacturer of golf cars and utility vehicles, donated 15 new bicycles to the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs of Greensboro, N.C., as part of a team-building exercise at its International Sales Meeting.
In conjunction with TeamBuildingUSA.com, attendees at the International Sales Meeting joined forces to put together the bicycles on Friday, June 27, at Grandover Resort and Conference Center. Once complete, the bikes were presented to members, males and females ages 8-12, chosen by the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs of Greensboro based on their character and leadership skills.
“We are grateful to E-Z-GO for this generous donation to our kids,” said Jacqueline Robinson, the program director of the club’s Central Unit. “The individuals we chose have worked so hard and grown so much, it’s wonderful to be able to reward their efforts with such a great gift.”
“We’re delighted with the opportunity to donate these bikes to the highly deserving members of the Boys & Girls Clubs,” said Mike Parkhurst, vice president of global sales at E-Z-GO. “E-Z-GO has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs that gives our employees a great sense of pride. We enjoyed building and presenting the bikes to the kids who have earned this gift through their dedication and determination.”
TeamBuildingUSA.com, a leading corporate team-building company, coordinated the event as part of its “Bikes For Charity” program. E-Z-GO employees divided into 15 teams, each tasked with assembling one bike from a group of parts. Teams missing necessary parts met with other teams to exchange the pieces each needed to finish their bikes, fostering teamwork and communication.
Once all the bikes were completed, the teams competed in a race through an obstacle course, with an award going to the top three finishers. The Boys & Girls Clubs recipients were then presented with their bikes as well as accessories such as helmets and pads.
